🌱How to plant seeds

  • – Prepare a planting container, plastic tub, or cement pond with a depth of at least 25–30 cm (10–12 in).
  • – Add a layer of clean mud or pond soil, about 15–20 cm thick. You can also mix clay soil with compost or organic fertilizer.
  • – Gently place the sprouted seed into the soil, with the shoot facing upward. Then, fill with water to about 10–15 cm above the soil.
  • – As the plant grows, gradually increase water depth to 20–30 cm.

  • Use a metal file, small knife, or sandpaper to gently scrape the round end of the lotus seed (avoid damaging the inner core).
  • 👉 Purpose: Helps the seed absorb water and germinate faster.

  • – In about 5–7 days, once the sprouts reach 5–10 cm (2–4 in), they are ready for planting.
  • 👉 Discard seeds that float or do not sprout — they’re usually empty or rotten.
